I can’t drag segments
thank you excellent.
6:50 This feature seems to be gone now. I can't highlight the center of a segment simply by hovering the cursor. Any idea how to do it now?
Video title mentioning "versus" implies that info. Will be provided about WHY to use one measurement method vs the other. Nope. Best practices for taking measurements was helpful though
Your videos got me started with Onshape, I appreciate the knowledge.
Great tutorial 😀 But missing how to navigate on a macbook. It seems to be very difficult on a mac.
i had to buy a mouse, and thus things have become much easier😆
resolved my own problem. i was creating the extrusion without deleting the previous extrusion created.
i created my dovetail, when i extruded it it went beyond the substrate material. it appeared red. looking at the isometric view, i see the original rectangle and circle with hidden line inside the block. I did edited my dimensions before this happened. what do you think happening here?
You rock thanks for taking the time to make this. CAD seemed intimidating but you've eased my nerves
nevermind this vid is too old. they dont even have drawing easy now..sob
apparently the tool bar changes ..think im okay
super clear and easy video. nice
hey. do you recommened learning onshape for prototypes ( i just finished the tutorials) or any other similar software? ( sorry for my english its not my mother lunguage)
Fantastic walk through. I'm going to keep working on this. Awesome features and great teaching skills.
Still the best tutorial 7 years later.
Can I switch between using a diameter or a radius for a circle dimension?
I'm not sure who the instructor in the video is (David Thomazy ?) but he is THE BEST !! Onshape should contract him as their Official online trainer. He is better than any other online CAD instructor that I have ever come across. Best wishes my friend !!
EXCELLENT ! Very Clear & Concise. Thank You
I am always impressed by your teaching style. You have a true gift for teaching. One question though. The construction line you placed at 48" is in the CENTER of the extruded circle. But if I wanted the top of the drawing to equal 48" instead of the center of the swept circle, and because you chose 3: as the diameter of the circle, should I lower the top by the radius (1.5") or is there a better way of ensuring the total height is exactly 48"
thank you so much your classes, they were informational to the point and well presented :)
Thank you so much! This is one of the best tutorials for onshape. Thanks again.
HEY YOU HOLY JOKER ?? DO YOU DISGUST THE METRIC SYSTEM OR SO YOU MENTION 3 OR 4 TIMES INCHES AND AT THE END TO DECAPITATE ANY THOUGHT OF CM BY QUOTING YOU CAN ALWAYS CHANGE IT IF YOU WANT TO DO SOMETHING ELSE ???????? WAT ELSE IS THERE ?? ARE YOU KEEPING SECRETS FROM ME IS THERE ANY OTHER MEASURE SYSTEM APART FROM INCHES & CM ?? OR YOU YANKJING OUR CHAIN WANTING TO SWAP INCHES WITH LIGHTYEARS WHICVH IS QUITE THE OPPOSDITE OF ANDROMEDA AND PLUTO FROM MICKEY MOUSE ???????
Love it, excellent way to start using 3D cad
This was amazing I am new to ondhaoe but have to say its the CAD system that suits me perfectly as an Industrial Mechanics student.
very bad a tabon
echt kk slecht
Thank you for this! Bravo
Where does it go on a Mac?
Absolutely great , im a novice and appreciate the great help given in a very simple and understanding way ( write a book)
TLDR; 12 minutes to show how to export STL??????
Thanks!

thanks a lot!
sound good, doesn't work
Really good series, I love how every video is only couple mintes long and simple to understand.
THIS is how to teach. Took me a second to find the right basics videos.... so excellent. Great work and thank you!
Thankyou for the series. Very helpful. I no longer feel so lost
thank you for this great video, very simple, direct and informative
Thank you for your tutorial videos...I am new to Onshape and found these to be very helpful. Question: I made a double helix candle holder out of wood (using lathe, chisels, etc. to hollow middle section) and am trying to sketch the shape in Onshape. The candle holder has a total height of 8.5" and is divided into 3 parts...base taper section, middle helix section, and top reverse taper section. The base is 2" in diameter and tapers to approx. 1.5" with a section height of 1.5". The middle section is the double helix and this section of the candle holder is 6" heigh. The double helix spiral is hollow down the middle (as if you wind 2 wires around a tube then remove the tube). The last section is the top and is 1" in height. It has a reverse (upward taper)...with an end hole of 1 9/16" in diameter and 1/8" deep where the candle sits. I am trying to (1) figure out how to construct each of the sections and have them connect to each other, (2) how to add 2 helix paths that do not intersect each other (offset paths) and (3) how to "hollow out" the double helix middle section so that the middle (vertical plane) is hollow between the 2 helix paths. This link is an example of a double helix (twist) of a goblet...similar to what my candle holder looks like (the top section is different though as mine is a candle holder not a goblet...ruclips.net/video/bl45nkMaYvY/видео.html Thank you so much for any help/suggestions/ideas/etc. that you may be able to provide.
When I moved the 'center slot' sketch to the middle, I got a little too close. When I tried to draw the central construction line, it stuck to the full shape's sketch instead of the slot. Make sure you move the 'slot' off center just enough to avoid that (or construct the center line before moving it).

Thank you so much for these Clear and concise Was losing hope on learning in retirement Learned to draw in 1970s by hand but was never an office worker This is inspiring me
One of the best tutorial series I have ever experienced on RUclips. Thanks a lot.
I am thinking that these were very nice videos in their day, but I am unfortunately having trouble following along with 7 years of software revisions between us. A lot is mostly the same, but some of your movements in your version I am not able to reproduce in my version. Kind of like you, in a Model T, trying to teach me to drive in a Ferrari. Any suggestions? Thank you... I should mention that I am trying to advance from a good bit of experience with TinkerCad, to something more powerful and flexible.
amazing tutorial - and OnShape seems to be far more intuitive (and yet with definable constraints) than most every other "Baby's first CAD" program - thanks !
I started onshape 2 years ago and lost hope. Thank you for these tutorials, I'm learning a lot!
Thank you for the wonderful tutorial!!!
my work space is black not white cant see everything happening any ideas
how can i combine two object together
Could this part actually be used for something in manufacturing? Does it have a name? Thank you for the video it was really interesting
I'm brand new to any CAD software and you have made this so clear and easy to understand. Thanks so much for taking the time to put these tutorials together.
Fab thank you. I have a rectangle with a hole in the middle. Maybe doesn't sound much, but to me it's super exciting.
